After graduating from ECAL in 2002, Stéphane Kropf (1979) continues to work in painting, publishing, printmaking, photography, sound and sculpture in his studio in Forel (Lavaux), which he exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad. At the same time, he has always sought to decompartmentalize the arts and cultural scenes; as such, he speaks three languages, has co-founded and manages a record label, has done art carpentry, worked for a contemporary dance association and staged theater projects, played and organized concerts with numerous musical groups, organized exhibitions and shot performances, mounted exhibitions with and for reknown artists on three continents, in museums, galleries, art centers or banks, and has recently developed a passion for gardening. He has set up and run an artist’s record store at a major art fair, set up and dismantled festival and concert hall stages, collaborated with craftsmen in Europe, Asia and the USA, produced mountain and sun-shaped artworks and audio books for a variety of artists, set up a sound studio, and for some years has been enthusiastically passing on all this to his child, as well as to his students in the Bachelor of Visual Arts program at ECAL, of which he is the head.
